The Isle of Whithorn is a pretty harbour village situated at the tip of the Machars peninsula in south-west Scotland.

The village received Scottish Community of the Year Award for two years in succession and is probably unique in that it has recently set up its own community-owned cinema, showing very recent films. See locally for opening times and films showing.

The Isle has two pubs (one with a restaurant), a small shop-cum-post office and a fish shop.

Sea fishing trips are often available from the harbour as is sailing tuition from the yacht club. And don't forget to try the local lobster in season!
